The Zap Snaps is a Nerf blaster that was released in 1992 under the Original Nerf name.

It comes packaged with two Zap Snaps rockets.

The blaster itself is merely a handle, as it has no real internals. The ammunition is stretched back by hand once attached on the hook at the top, and released, causing the ammunition to fling. The loop can be adjusted by pushing it either upwards or downwards until it hits the position where it cannot be moved any further.

The ammunition itself is exclusive to this blaster and cannot be used with any other blaster.

It was pulled from the market as soon as it was released due to a potential safety hazard. It was thought that the piece which holds the rocket in place could cause serious damage if it were to be jabbed at certain bodily places such as the eyes.[1]

Reloading and firing

To reload the Zap Snaps, place the loop of the Zap Snaps rocket onto the red hook at the top of the blaster.

Pull back the rocket and release it to fire the rocket.

  • This model is considered a "prototype". It is an extremely rare blaster and only a few exist. Despite this, several new-in-box models of this blaster have surfaced, indicating that it was cancelled at the last minute.
  • It appears to have been intended as a slingshot-type weapon.
