As long as you are comfortable that you got the vegetable oil out of the mechanical parts, then I think you're A-OK.
I might have been long winded before, but generally blasters go "snap" when the plunger head smacks into the end of the plunger tube. It's a sound many modded blasters without ARs make. If your blaster has an Air Restrictor and it still makes the "snapping" noise, it usually means the AR isn't working right.
The Hammershot has a finger-style AR valve. The tip sticks out into the cylinder chamber. The butt end of the darts push it backward into the plunger tube, opening the AR and allowing air flow. As soon as the dart advances, the AR moves forward too and closes the valve. The remaining air in the plunger tube acts like a pillow and allows the plunger to gently descend to the bottom of the tube.
So if it's still going "snap" then there's probably something going on with the AR either binding or not seating correctly. The good news is, if you're just using the stock spring, you have nothing to worry about. The plunger is plenty strong enough to withstand a direct hit from the stock 2 or 3Kg spring. In fact some of us kinda like that sound ?
