This is an article about the Dart Zone tactical rail. For other uses, see Tactical rail.
A tactical rail is a feature found on some Dart Zone and Prime Time Toys-produced Adventure Force blasters.
Details[]
The Dart Zone tactical rail is similar to the Nerf tactical rail, and allows for detachable accessories such as scopes and flip-up sights to be affixed to a blaster.
The earliest versions of the Dart Zone rail were dimensionally similar to the Nerf tactical rail. However, an inner channel prevented the Nerf accessories to lock on the rail. As such, they slide around the rail and are not truly compatible.[1]
Later versions of the tactical rail featured tighter tolerances which allow Nerf attachments to fit better. Although there is still an inner channel that prevents them from truly locking, there is enough friction for the attachment to fit without sliding.[2]
History[]
The earliest known example of the Dart Zone tactical rail was in 2016 with blasters like the Legendfire, which saw semi-compatibility with Nerf accessories and saw no inclusion of any of their own.
Revisions to the Dart Zone rail came in 2020, and blasters began being released with their own unique attachments, such as the Spectrum and its scope.
Trivia[]
- The earliest known example of a Dart Zone blaster with any sort of tactical rail is the 2011 Quickfire 12, which features a rail-like ornament on its priming handle; compatibility with accessories, however, is untested, and the rail may simply be a cosmetic feature of the blaster.
