The Rechargeable Battery Pack, as its name suggests, is meant to be a rechargeable replacement for using individual batteries in battery-operated RIVAL blasters. It is a nickel-metal hydride battery and is intended to replaced six "D" batteries as a lighter and cheaper alternative in the long run. The battery has 7.2 volts, which is less than the 9 volts one would get from six "D" batteries. However, it sports more current and thus, increases the blaster's performance. As such, the pack is advertised as increasing a blaster's rate of fire[1].

It is not compatible with any other battery-powered RIVAL blasters. The cross-compatibility with some Adventure Force Tactical Strike and Dart Zone BallistixOps blasters was not intentional on Hasbro's part.
