The Proximity Barrel is a small barrel extension that resembles a real-life flash hider. Despite this, it does not actually do anything to the blaster it is equipped to. A series of small holes are seen alongside the side which serve only for aesthetic purpose; the holes have no way to actually touch any darts passing through the barrel. The inside features rifling parallel with the length of the barrel extension. As well, the inside of the barrel is of a smaller inner diameter than other barrels, increasing the chance of dart drag within the barrel and lowering ranges.
As with many Nerf products from the 2015/2016 lineup, the Nerf logo is only seen on one side of the blaster, with the other side being completely bare of any additional paint details.

The barrel is pretty short so it likely won't have a significant effect, but I still would have preferred the wider faux barrel for practically no effect.”
