The Folding Stock is a Nerf detachable shoulder stock that was released in 2010 under the N-Strike series.
It comes packaged with the N-Strike and N-Strike Elite Spectre REV-5, the Alpha Trooper CS-6 Mission Kit, the Double Defense Pack, and the Stability Kit. It cannot be purchased separately.
Details[]
The Folding Stock, as the name suggests, can be flipped 180 degrees to fold onto the right hand side of a blaster. Due to its length, younger users may have a difficult time using it.
Although usable on other blasters, it is clearly designed specifically for the Spectre due to the concave indention on the left side of the unfolded stock. This fits perfectly to the Spectre's revolving cylinder.
History[]
The Folding Stock would have been re-released in 2011 with the Whiteout Series Spectre, however, the blaster was cancelled.
The Folding Stock was re-released four times: in 2013 with the N-Strike Elite Spectre, in 2015 with the Alpha Trooper CS-6 Mission Kit, in 2020 with the ICON Series Spectre REV-5, in 2021 with the Stability Kit, and in 2022 with the Double Defense Pack.
Color schemes[]
The Folding Stock comes in the following color schemes:
- N-Strike / ICON Series (yellow, black, gray, and orange)
- N-Strike Elite (blue, black, gray, white, and orange)
- Alpha Trooper CS-6 Mission Kit (orange, black, and gray)
- Ghost Ops (clear, and orange)
- Elite 2.0 (teal, white, gray and orange)
Trivia[]
- The Folding Stock is the longest detachable shoulder stock.
- The Flip Clip attachment can clip on to the end of the stock. It is not likely intentional, as it is a rather loose fit. It can be used to hold an extra clip, but this will cause the end of the stock to be blocked, making it uncomfortable on the user's shoulder.
- Although it comes with a Spectre, a blaster advertised on the box as a stealth blaster, the stock is rather noisy when carrying it in the folded position.
- To better "lock" the folding hinge in place, one can let super glue dry on the on the pieces, making sure it does not touch anything, so that when dry it fits tighter into the hinge.
- Unlike the Elite Spectre, which does have the Elite logo on the grip, the Elite version of this stock comes with the N-Strike logo, not the N-Strike Elite logo.
- When this stock is mounted and folded up on any flat-sided blaster (like the Stryfe), left-handed users can use the end of the stock as a foregrip. While not the most sturdy or comfortable of foregrips, it does help steady shots.
- The stock is notably flimsy and is rarely used by competitive Nerfers.
