The Boss is a Buzz Bee blaster that was released in 2015 under the Air Max sub-series.

Included contents[]

Details[]

The Boss is a clip-fed, slide-action blaster that fires large, "XL" darts similar to Nerf N-Strike Mega Mega Darts.

Though it appears to have a large, orange button, it is only an aesthetic detail on the shell.[1] The clip release button sits between the firing trigger and the clip well. Though it appears its priming slide will not return all the way when priming the blaster, this is how the blaster normally performs.[citation needed]

It is cross-compatible with other Air Max clips, as well as Nerf Mega clips and ammunition.[2]

It advertises a firing range of up to eighty feet (twenty-four meters). European models and other versions where the performance has been numbed advertise a range up to fifty feet (fifteen meters) instead.

Official description[]

History[]

The Boss was first announced in June of 2015, along with the rest of the Air Max sub-series.[3] The Boss is known as the Air Max 3 in some areas where the blaster's performance has been numbed to meet strict toy regulations.

In 2022, it was re-released as the Air Max Boss.[citation needed]

Modification[]

Modifying the Boss is not common due to its strong stock performance. Modders may have difficulty even entering the Boss because of the large orange front, a piece which is glued into place. Once this piece is pried off via screwdriver or dremel there is another final screw located underneath the glued area which needs to be removed. Air restrictor removal can be done from here as well as other simple mods such as seal improvements and spring replacements.
