The Big Play Football is a Nerf product that was released in 2003.

Details[]

The Big Play Football is a football with a flip-top design, which houses a space to write down secret information. Players would throw the ball to each other and open it up to reveal future football plays. The pad on which this information is written is similar to a magic slate-style writing pad; whatever is written will be erased if the top plastic sheet is lifted up and off the second sheet. Above this, on the piece that flips up, is a graph depicting how to draw certain plays and what they mean.

History[]

In January of 2004, the Big Play Football was recalled by Hasbro, due to nine reported injuries where the football struck a person in the face (eight of which required medical attention). Because of this recall, it was only on store shelves for seven months.[1]

Trivia[]

  • The commercial and packaging for the Big Play Football features football quarterback Michael Vick.
