The Air Tech 2000, also known as the AT2K, is a Nerf blaster that was released in 2002 under the Air Tech series.

Included contents[]

Details[]

The Air Tech 2000 is an air-powered blaster with a four-dart turret; this turret must be manually rotated after firing a dart.[2] Similar to other Air Tech blasters, the AT2K features a "Liquitron" power gauge, a tube with liquid with in it, meant to correlate to how much air power the blaster currently has stored in it. As air is pumped into the blaster, this gauge fills up with liquid further.

Notably, the AT2K fires from the bottom-most barrel.[3]

Reliability[]

The Air Tech 2000 is generally reliable, but some instances of malfunctions have been reported with the blaster. The check valve is known to break, making it impossible to pump air into the blaster.[4]

The Liquitron gauge also runs the risk of exploding if the blaster is modified and filled with too much air.

Official description[]

History[]

The Air Tech 2000 was filed for patenting on August 30, 2002.[5] It is considered by some to be a successor to the SuperMAXX 1500, which has similar features and performance.

The Air Tech 2000 was very popular with in the Nerf community during the time of its availability due to its simplicity for blaster modification; singled Air Tech 2000 blasters were considered a powerful choice of the era.

It was re-released in 2003 under the unnamed 2003 series, and again in 2004 under the Action Blasters series.

Color schemes[]

The Air Tech 2000 has been released with the following color schemes:

  • Blue and orange
  • Blue and red
  • Blue, yellow, and pink
  • Green, purple, and blue
  • Red, black, and orange

Modification[]

Common modifications for the Air Tech 2000 are plugging or direct replacement of the barrel for a near-perfect air seal. Some go as far as to replace the barrels with longer ones, to help increase accuracy and power.[6] To help with the reduction of air loss, the Liquitron gauge is often removed.

Some choose to single their Air Tech 2000 blasters, making it a single-shot blaster in order to have the most direct flow of air.[7]

Other forms of modifications may also include couplering the blaster.[8] More advanced mods experiment with more in-depth projects, such as converting the blaster to accept homemade clips.[9]

Integrations were also popular with the Air Tech 2000, done either by placing the internals into another blaster or placing another blaster's internals into an Air Tech 2000.[10]

Blaster sets[]

The Air Tech 2000 Twin Pack comes packaged with two Air Tech 2000 blasters; this two-pack was only released as a Target exclusive.[11]

Reloading and firing[]

To reload the Air Tech 2000, load up to four darts into the front turret. Pump the blaster to a desired amount of air; two to three pumps will give the blaster the desired amount of power,[12] however four pumps will give the blaster maximum power.

Pull the trigger back to fire a dart.

Trivia[]

  • The Air Tech 2000 was the smallest and cheapest air-powered blaster in the Air Tech series.
