Zuru was founded in Cambridge, New Zealand in a small garage in 2004. Since then they have expanded to over eighty different countries and created a portfolio of brands under a variety of different toy sectors. The headquarters were moved to Guangzhou, China in an attempt to become closer to their manufacturing processes.
One of the most successful products by Zuru is the Robo Fish (now renamed Robo Alive), a million-selling product which became a surprise hit around 2012. Since then they have acquired the rights to produce toys for the shows Ultimate Spider-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Their entry into the toy blaster market began with X-Shot in 2011, which then expanded with X-Shot Excel, X-Shot Zombie and X-Shot Pink Series, all of which have been released to combat changing times, advancing performance and new product lines from Nerf.
